Dennis Worthy

November 9, 1955 — June 30, 2021

Akron

Dennis Leon Worthy, 65, was born on November 9th, 1955 in Akron, Ohio to proud parents Mr. Luit (Lieutenant) Worthy Sr. &  Mrs. Mary (Carter) Worthy.  He was called by God to rest on June 30, 2021.

Dennis attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from J.R. Buchtel High School.

Dennis lived a dynamic life exploring his passions, enjoying his family and praising God.  While being generally quiet—he made friends along the way.

He was a long distance track runner while attending West Junior High School, also he was very accurate with a sling-shot.  He loved animals, especially the family’s pet rabbit, “Bernie.”  He won a blue ribbon from the state in creative arts for his intricate woodcraft.  The professional quality furniture he built while in HS for our family home remains to this day.  Again, his joy was family events, especially dinners at family and his sister’s house.

He “stood tall,” and was known for wearing his caps and military-style attire.   Dennis quoted Bible scriptures and detailed measurements for carpentry,  from memory at any given time.  He rarely complained; in difficult times when asked how he felt, he would answer,  “half and half.”  When he was ill, he always asked when he’d go home.  God made his home with Him.

Dennis was preceded in this transition by his parents, his sister -  Eunice Bertha Gross and brothers - James Thomas Worthy and Edward Charles Worthy, Sr.

He leaves his brothers:  Luit Richard Worthy Jr., Obie Samuel Lee Carter (Irene deceased), William Tuly Worthy II (Dolly),  David Lee Worthy,  Donald Ray Worthy (Jan),  Ervin Darnell Worthy; and his sisters:  Odessa Theresa Worthy-Lee (George deceased),  Eula Mae Guess (Rayfield James),  Mary Louise Worthy and Darlene Renee Worthy ...and special friends, T’Juana (and family) & Natalie, nurses Ashley & Angela along with many endearing nieces, nephews, cousins, and other close relatives and friends.

Family Verse:

Song of Solomon 8:7a Many waters cannot quench love, neither can  the floods drown it.

We share our love for our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Dennis.  He will surely be missed in this life, but we can rest assured that he is in a better place with our heavenly Father.
