“In Loving Memory of Victor Eric Robinson
Victor Eric Robinson, a beloved resident of Akron, Ohio, passed away on September 16, 2023, at the age of 68. Eric, as he was affectionately known, was born in Akron on December 8, 1954, to the devoted couple Horace and Beatrice Robinson, whose enduring love lasted for over five decades.
From a young age, Eric's passions bloomed. He fostered a deep affection for model cars and the soulful melodies of jazz music. His educational journey led him through South High School and culminated in the completion of the Apprentice Program at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he later ascended to the prestigious rank of Journeymen. In 2022, after dedicating an astounding forty-three years of his life to his craft, Eric embarked on a well-earned retirement. He was an active and proud member of the United Steelworkers Union (Local 2L).
In 1977, Eric's life took a joyous turn when he crossed paths with the love of his life, Denise, through mutual friends. United by a shared sense of excitement for their future together, they exchanged vows on June 11, 1983, marking the beginning of a remarkable forty-year journey of matrimony. Together, Eric and Denise reveled in the simple pleasures of life, including their mutual love for travel, concerts, grocery shopping, and cozy evenings watching sports from the comfort of their home.
The heart of their union was blessed with the arrival of two beautiful children, Erin in 1988 and Evan in 1991. The Robinson family made cherished memories together, visiting Niagara Falls, savoring Strickland's ice cream, delighting in the thrills of Cedar Point, and engaging in spirited Monopoly battles.
Eric's diverse interests were a testament to his vibrant spirit. Whether it was his passion for sports racing, his fascination with car shows, his dedication to solving intricate puzzles, his culinary skills in the kitchen, or his affinity for classic films, Eric's zest for life was boundless. To those who frequented his home, Eric was a familiar sight, engrossed in his favorite Sudoku puzzles while nestled in his cherished armchair.
Eric will forever be remembered not only for his vast knowledge but also for his unwavering dedication to providing for his family. His distinctive catchphrase, "What-Cha-Call," became a symbol of his unique personality and will echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Beatrice Robinson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and lasting memories in the hearts of his surviving family: his beloved wife, Denise Robinson; their cherished children, Erin Robinson and Evan (Jillian) Robinson; devoted siblings, Shawn (Linda) Robinson and Rene Richardson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Eric's life will be held on October 7, 2023, at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Visitation will commence at 12 pm, followed by the memorial service at 1 pm.”
