Marvin Eugene Smoot Sr.

Marvin Eugene Smoot Sr. transitioned from this earth August 9th , 2025. He was born September 3, 1952, to Theodore and Felicia Smoot in St. Louis Missouri, where he attended the public Schools, and graduated from Northwest High School. After High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served 20 years.

Marvin was a 1st class Machinist Mate (MM1), where he worked on and monitored the ships engines. He served through the Grenada invasion in 1983, Desert Storm in Iraq in 1991, and Samalia in 1992. Being on the ships, he had the opportunity to visit many countries throughout the world. He loved to reminisce and talk about his adventures. He also had a great love of motorcycles. He enjoyed riding them and tinkering with them.

He was a mechanic in his own right, repairing cars and motorcycles. While in the military he met and married the love of his life, Veronica Hawk of Portsmouth, Virginia and from this union were born 3 children: Tinicia Odom, Marvin E. Smoot II, and Laronda Smoot.

After his Retirement from the Navy, in the words of his brother, Marvin lived his life the way he wanted to. He moved from Virginia to Florida, back to St Louis, finally settling in Ohio where he lived for the last 10 years.

He was proceeded in death by his Grandparents, his parents, his Aunt Elenor Henderson and his Uncle Harry Henderson Jr. Left to mourn, remember and celebrate his life are his Brother Chondus P. Smoot (of Chicago Il), and two sisters, Sharon Tate(of Uta) and Felicia Smoot II (Pedie) (of Jacksonville FL), his three children Tinicia Odom, Marvin E. Smoot II (Chauncey) and Laronda Smoot, fourteen Grandchildren, Chondus E. Smoot, Daviana Davis, Tinia Davis, Avian Davis, Lando Foster, Parris Foster, Iciss Simpson, Juelle Simpson, Jordyn Smoot, Ayana Smoot, Reagan Smoot, Marvin E Smoot III, Ethan Smoot and Lauren Smoot, 10 Great Grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
