Leetaa A. Roper Foster

December 11, 1956 — September 2, 2023

Akron

Leetaa Ann Roper Foster, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2023. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved mother, Hattie Lee Roper; devoted grandparents Annie D. and Earnest Roper; brother, Theodore Roper, Sr.; and nephew, David Roper.

Leetaa was the oldest of six siblings. She may have been petite in stature but she had a personality that stood out and demanded attention. If truth be told, at times Leetaa could be quite a “spitfire” when she felt injustice was being done to someone. As was taught to her by example from her parents, Leetaa understood early on that her purpose in life was to help people better help themselves so they in turn could help others. She was passionate about coaching and mentoring children of all ages. She accumulated many volunteer hours going back to her teen years which continued throughout her retirement. However,
she still maintained time for R&R and personal fun. She loved traveling to places like Switzerland, enjoyed playing Angry Birds on her laptop, took long walks in the park, had fun shopping, and was an avid reader of “paper copy only” novels. Leetaa took great pleasure in spending special time with her mom planting flowers and learning new crafts and hobbies. She lived by faith and knew she was a child of God.

Leetaa leaves behind to cherish her memories her two much-loved nephews of whom she was co-legal guardian, Gevon and Tyree, her youngest sister Vilomaria whom she cared for as her child, and god-daughter Resha McClendon-Fields. She is also survived by her father Elder Johnnie Roper, Sr.; sisters Juanita Juniel, and Deborah Roper; and brother Johnnie Roper, Jr.; special sisters Kelly Ewing, Carol Jean Everett, Ronda Fitten-Sanders, and a host of beloved nephews, nieces, otherrelatives and friends. Although she left us unexpectedly and much too soon, the essence of who she was will always live on in our hearts and our memories.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until time of memorial service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 516 N. Firestone Boulevard, Akron, Ohio 44301.
