Lauren Patrice Ellis

Lauren Patrice Ellis went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2025. Lauren was born on September 29, 1973 to the late Myrtle Ann and Paul Ellis. From the onset, Lauren was asweet and affectionate little girl. Her father referred to her as his “lollipop”. When she was four years old her father passed away suddenly. Lauren, her mother, two brothers,

Paul and Philip and her older sister, Paula, drew closer to each other as they faced this challenging situation.

Lauren attended Akron Public Schools from elementary to high school, spending her last years at Ellet High School. She was usually quiet and shy at school, but was more talkative and inquisitive at home. Shortly after high school Lauren entered motherhood and welcomed her son, Cameron and later, her daughter, Taylor. They were the center of her world. As a mother she was strong, hard working, determined, and exemplified the same for her children. Sadly Lauren’s mothers passed away while the children were toddlers. Later, she met her lifetime love, Andre McBride, whom she maintained a relationship for almost 30 years.

Lauren had strong work ethics. She worked several jobs throughout her life time. She would often catch the bus to go to work. She worked at hotels and the Metro Transit Center, just to name a few.

Although Lauren had many early challenges in life, she also embraced many pleasures. She enjoyed going to many beaches. Her aunt Geraldine and uncle Ed took her to Atlantic City, where she and her sister/ cousin, Carol, enjoyed the beach. There were other vacations where she and many of her cousins spent time at Virginia beach and especially Myrtle beach, where Taylor also accompanied her. In addition to vacations, she also enjoyed family reunions and family holiday dinners where she often contributed some of her delicious dishes. She was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed sitting and laughing at her favorite uncle, Hal. In addition to spending time with relatives and friends , she also enjoyed a good movie at the theatre and at home. She especially adored watching old movies with Taylor or other family members. Lauren enjoyed shopping, and was a wiz at matching her clothes, jewelry, and even her shoes.

One of Lauren’s happiest times includes the birth and relationship with her granddaughter, (Cameron’s daughter) Martinique, whom she often spent time with, especially after school.

Above all, Lauren had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. After being baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit, Lauren was among the first members to join Koinonia Apostolic Church in May of 2011. She enjoyed the fellowship with the members, many of whom were her relatives. She even attended some of the women’s retreats. During the Pandemic of 2020, churches were forced to close and go online, Lauren was anxious for church to reopen.

Life was not always easy for Lauren. She faced many obstacles while enduring a chronic illness, especially within the past few years, but with her tenacity and strength, she fought as hard as she could. Although she has gone home to be with the Lord , her spirit will always live on in her children, siblings, relatives and all who knew Lauren a.k.a “Lori.”

Lauren was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Paul Ellis, grandparents;Esmoline and Charlie Ellis, and Marie and Onley Peavey; several aunts and uncles and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Cameron Ellis, and Taylor Ellis; her brothers; Paul Ellis, and Phillip(Danni) Ellis, ; sister; Paula Dixson, granddaughter; Martinique Ellis, special aunt, Geraldine Smith, special love, Andre McBride, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
