JOYCE – “Happiness, Gladness, Delight”

Joyce McClenic was born on October 4, 1957, in Akron, OH. She was the daughter of Luther R. and Ruby L McClenic, both deceased. Joyce has been united with them and her brother Kenneth McClenic, Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles who preceded her.

Joyce attended Akron Public schools graduating from South High School in 1976 with honors. She later attended Sargent Community College receiving her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies.

Traveling was one of the many joys in Joyce’s life. She traveled to Europe and visited many states from California to Florida. Her journey led to residences in Atlanta, GA, Buffalo, NY, Richmond, VA and Tallahassee, FL before returning home to Akron.

Joyce’s helpfulness and kindness was demonstrated as a Customer Service Representative for FirstEnergy for over 10 years where she enjoyed interacting with customers and providing solutions.

Her beloved son, John K. K. Jones was born in her union with John L. Jones. Joyce was a loving and nurturing mother, guiding John from infancy to adulthood to the man he is today.

The history of black culture was an interest for Joyce (Afua), which led her to serve as an African Elder. She was a woman of quiet strength, resilience, wisdom, and dedication to family and friends. She will be remembered for her sharp wit that brought humor to even the toughest days and the joy she left with each person.

Treasuring her memory is son John K. K. Jones, sisters Linda McClenic and Deborah McClenic-Gillison (Raymond); nephews - Harold, Shawn and Reymund; nieces - Samantha and Cassundra; life-long friend Luana Hill-Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
