“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”
2 Timothy 4:7
The family of Edwina Priester is deeply saddened by her passing on July 13, 2026. During her transition, she was surrounded by the love of her family. Edwina made her peace with God and has transitioned from this earth into His Eternal Glory.
Born on October 11, 1954 in Akron, Ohio, to Ocie and Lucille Priester Edwina lived a full and remarkable life. She will always be remembered for her free spirit and expressive personality, of which was mostly expressed through her vibrant artwork and paintings.
Edwina touched the hearts of many and was the most loved Auntie ever. Though not having children of her own, she dearly loved and helped care for three generations of nieces and nephews. They learned art, gardening, cooking and many other skills which also included “how to make an ice skating rink in the backyard,” one of many hilarious stories that can be told. She was beautiful, whimsical, funny, daring, eccentric, eclectic and downright interesting.
She will be lovingly remembered by sisters Evaughn (Alexander) Cagle, Arona Sanford; brothers Robert Priester; Jeffery (Earlene) Priester; Nephews: Stephen Cagle (Dayra); Eric Cagle, Vance Sanford, Ocie Priester II, Tracey White. Nieces: Sloan Sanford, Dr. Nicole-Cagle Richardson (Dennis), Shawntaye Jones (Damion), Catherine Simmons, Junese Strickland, Stacie White and a host of grand and great-grand nieces, nephews and friends.
Edwina was proceeded in death by her father, Ocie Priester; mother, Lucille Priester; brother, Ocie Priester II; and brother, Donald Priester.
The family wished to thank Dr. Lu and Dr. Khayyat for their compassion and care. A special thanks and recognition to the Opening Arms Outreach Social Services staff for providing quality and professional home-health card to Edwina during her illness.
