Sonny was born in Akron Ohio, the only son to Bernice Fedrick and Doc Griffin who have preceded him death. He had one sister Ruby ‘Becky’ Griffin Lee who also preceded him in death.

Sonny as he was known by his family and friends, was a student at Lane Elementary, Thornton Jr. High and South High Schools. He retired from BF Goodrich and Hoover Company. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, listening to music and was known as avid dancer.

He was the proud father of 4 children. During his 20-year marriage to Mary Alyce Barnett, Parris (Andre), Dawn and Brian Griffin (Houston, TX) siblings to first born Tracy Fain (Akron).

His second marriage was to Pam O’hara Buckner, who has preceded him in death.

Surviving to cherish his memory his 4 beloved children, 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. A devoted niece Nicki Jones with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will honor Sonny’s life with a Memorial celebration at a later date. Details will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
