Deshawn Garnett Jones

Deshawn Garnett Jones, 43, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on December 19th, 2025. He was born July 3, 1982, in Akron, Ohio, to William Wells and Dianna Jones.

A native of Akron, Ohio, he graduated from East High School, where he was an all-city basketball player, and attended Ohio State University. He was a loving son, father, brother, cousin, and friend. Shawn’s world revolved around his family. He cherished spending quality time with his children. He liked to grill, play poker, crack jokes, and dance (even though he had no rhythm). Shawn truly was the life of “every” party. If you know him, you know that when he pulls up, he's going to get some fried chicken.

He is preceded in death by his devoted mother, Dianna Jones (Whitehurst), and sister Olivia Gibson. He is survived by his father, William (Priscilla)Wells; his children, DeShawn Jones Jr., Sevyn Jones, Nova Jones, and Josiah Smith; siblings William Jews, Natalie Wells, Shamica (Dion) Samuell of Raleigh, NC, William (DeOna) Jones, Alonzo Jews, Nellie Jews, Terron (Tania) Gibson of Manassas, VA, Jalisa Gibson, and Shanay Gibson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special friend and loving partner, Tashe Smith. Close friends, almost like brothers, Tucker Cleigh, Terrance Stokes, and Tyrell (Adrian) Fletcher.

Shawn impacted every person he came across. He will be greatly missed and truly remembered.
