Deborah Addie (Owens) was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 20, 1961. She went home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2025.
Debbie was a proud member of the “1040” alum, graduating in the class of ‘79. She was a faithful servant and an active lifelong Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church member, where she served on the Senior Usher Board. She dedicated 30 years of employment to the City of Akron, working at the Income Tax Office and retiring from the Water Department. Her retirement was short-lived, as Debbie couldn’t sit still and picked up what was supposed to be seasonal work at the Portage Country Club, but ended up being another 10 years of employment. Those were, for sure, the cleanest years in the club’s history.
Debbie had a smile that lit up an entire room and a caring heart that will be remembered by all who came into contact with her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise Owens, son Marcus Suttles, and brothers Robert Owens and Leon Rush.
She is survived by her son Maurice (Paige) Suttles; daughter Sharday (Jerry) Williams; sister Terra (Frank) Johnson; grandchildren Maurice (MJ) Suttles, Jayce Williams, and Laila Suttles; special friends Sonya Dunson, Carla Lamb, and Leslie Chaplin-Brown; nieces Shavonda and Shonda Johnson, Sharrice Chisolm; bonus children Alex Spear, Allyn Sanders, and Diamond Suttles; and a host of other close friends and relatives.
