David R. Jones, Jr., age 37, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a lifelong battle with epilepsy.
David was born July 21, 1988, to David R. Jones, Sr. and Kathleen Jones in Akron, Ohio. A 2007 graduate of Garfield High School, David was known for his energetic personality and a smile that could brighten any room. Following high school, David attended the National Institute of Technology, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Services before launching his company, StreetKingz Promotions. Through his business, he pursued his passions for music marketing, photo editing, and video production. His work was highly respected by his colleagues and frequently featured his love for cars, music, and supporting local businesses.
While he was dedicated to his career, David’s greatest joy was his family. He was happiest when surrounded by his two children, his nephews, and his nieces. He had a devout enthusiasm for sharing the things he loved with others—from attending car shows across the country to arguing which Lil Boosie song is the best.
David was preceded in death by his father, David R. Jones, Sr.; his stepfather, Dwayne E. Mathis; his brother, Deon L. Chambers; and his grandfather, James Boyd.
Left to carry on his legacy are his children, Dorian Jahleel and Lauryn Joyce. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kathleen Mathis; his brothers, Stephen (Alana) King, Jr., Delbert Chambers, Jr., Darnell (Naomi) Chambers, and Brian (Breanca) Jones; his Granny, Gertha L. Boyd; his dear friend, Jonathon Foreman; and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
While we all mourn David deeply, we find comfort in knowing that he has not only entered eternal rest but has also selflessly provided the gift of life to others as an organ donor. May God continue to watch over us all.
