Charles Allen Workman, Jr.

Charles A. Workman Jr,72, of Akron, Oh passed away peacefully at his home on December 16, 2025.

Charles was born September 15, 1953, to the late Charles A. Workman Sr and Ellen M Burley Workman in Zanesville, Ohio. Charles married Carlisa McCall in 1980 and from that union they had 3 children Kikema (known as KK), Charles (Roo) and Sheena (known as Starr). Charles was a member of Christ is the Answer Ministries for over 25 years where Pastor J. Michael Martin Sr is the pastor. When he returned to Akron most recently, he joined Prince of Peace Baptist Church where Pastor J. Howard Streeter III, PhD is the pastor. Charles was known for being a true legitimate hustler from pallets, to scraping and everything in between to support his family in addition to working his regular job. He was a Mason for over 40 years. His legacy is not so much measured in professional achievements, but in the countless hours of shared time, the lessons he taught with deep intention and the enduring love he instilled in the generations that followed. Charles loved to dance. He rarely missed a moment to dance with his daughters. As he was often a hub of family gatherings. Times with him were guaranteed to be filled with laughter and the sounds of his, his family, & grandchildren’s laughter. As he was often a willing playmate, a masterful storyteller, & gave lots of intangible love. However, showing up with stuffed animals or other tangible gifts, was not beyond his realm of surprise. He was not only their great playmate, he taught his grandchildren & even their friends how to fish, build, create great bonfires, etc. & passed on not just his skills but a sense of wonder and curiosity. He had a special way of making each person feel his energy. Charles will be remembered for his boisterous voice, vibrant spirit, unwavering presence, faith and that spark that appeared whenever his family was around.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ellen (Maxine) Workman, sister Rebecca Pollard and grandson Eddie James Lee III. He is survived by his son Charles A. Workman II, daughters Sheena Workman-Brown (Derrick) and Kikema Workman. Granddaughter's Kaliyah Workman, Kissiah Lee, Denim Brown and Demi Brown. Siblings Judy (John) Covington, Gary (Bubby) Workman, Nancy (Jerry) Atkins and Jaqueline Workman, Special Aunt Fontell Burley; a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Prince of Peace Baptist Church located at 844 Garth Ave Akron, Ohio on December 27,2025 at 12:00 with Pastor J. Howard Streeter III PhD Officiating.
